A little house for a little boy.

Just wanting to show of the little nest my son and I built for him some days ago:

Because every child needs a place to chill out..or hide their saws..?? Well..as long as he doesn't sit in there secretly turning into a pig I'm cool with it. But if he did I think he'd do it to revenge all the cloth-making I've been doing lately! I'll be back with some more on that later..

Thanx for taking the time to read my random rambling, ta taa!

...and remember: don't eat a pig if it has a head of a child...it will make you fat.

a Great and Terrible Book.

I got to chapter 9 and realized, this is not getting better. Feeling disappointed at my self for being lured by it's covers and intriguing title and not checking what kind of book I was about to read...this gives me a hole new meaning to not not judging a book by it's covers. This is my  thoughts on "a Great and Terrible Beauty":
It's pure kaka. I'd recommend this to slightly reality detached 12 year old girls with a fantasy fetish. It seems to be written by one too. And (since this was not a book intended for my kind) I'm going to limit my self to one comment: Gemma, the main character, is running around in1895...in a crinoline..and a starched lace collar...really?

Now, a quick bunny-styled review:

Mother kills her self, Girl goes to London, Girl befriends a bunch of bitches + her outcast roomy and it's all mysterious, And lastly because of a book they find out they're all really freaking special and finds other realities where they get all they want, And also it's slightly set in some kind of old place. The End!

Next time I'll check up the book before reading it! Going to this from "Dorian Gray" feels like comparing The Shining to Twilight..which is very much what it is really...

..and also, to correct my annoyances:

Crinoline of the 1860's..vs starched lace collar ca 1900.

At least I've stopped procrastinating so it wasn't all in vein..! Yippee....!

little Red at 2.52 am

So NOW I have an idea! I'm gonna smash together 1870's, boho-style and, believe it or not, Dracula. Just have to keep some things away from me for enough time tomorrow to get it started.. or I could just logg in to facebook and get reminded that I could have a lot more boring things on my mind!

What mostly keeps me from sewing is ,of course, my little spawn. He's not (yet) a fan of sewing..more a fan of fu..dging around. As soon as the sewing machine comes out, so does he's whiny face..thankfully he has a father.

But there are other things..luring in the shadows to catch my attention! Facebook being one of them (cause there's just something about prying on peoples private life in secret) , but more than that: the Supersizers. I just put it on in the background and it doesn't take long before I become a TV zombie. It's just awsome. I don't even like food, and it's still so freakishly awsome! Watching it now even..

Next is a possible upcoming procrastination: a Great and Terrible Beauty, by Libba Bray. I got it today so we'll see..
And lastly...this damn blogging! I'm just blogging about what I should be doing instead! But then again..maybe it'll help me remember things better..never mind, scratch blogging from the list!

3.27 am...Now of to read...

a teeny tiny update.

My bridesdress making is going slowly. I should start today, but I'm kind of feeling like there's too much pressure to make it perfect. Actually I should have started days ago.. Now I'm just procrastinating with some movie watching and endless discussions about ..well..nothing at all really..and everything.

And also I've started reading the ultimate how-to-run-a-household-book! Mrs. Beatons book of household management. I'm seriously cooled out! Not int the Dorian Gray-way, but in the that's-so-informative-way. For some reason I've always liked books more if they inform me in some way..like, when I read for fun it's mostly pattern books..or books about life in some way..or parapsychological theories. So this fit's right in! It starts as it means to go on: "As with the comander of an army, so it is with the mistress of the house"

And of course it's an other way to avoid those pieces of fabric hanging around..just waiting for me to fail. I really don't know what it's going to end up looking like! Maybe I'll just make a gigantic condom and go with that!
..sadly..this is an actual weddingdress.

                                                     ..to be continued.

Ridinghood is getting married!

As you, my 3 readers, know by now I'm getting married in a not so distant future..maybe really soon..or maybe I'll be traditional and stick to the 1 year rule..it's all very secret and exiting! I look very much forward to the wedding and all I can really say is that it will be like nothing ever before seen in my relatively closeminded family! Just like the marriage it self. Me and my future husband are on a pilgrimage (isn't that fancy!) to change how people view "being married"! Look out world! Well..actually..look out this small narrowminded town that we live in for a short time before we leave..but still! Because the grass is most likely greener anywhere else.
I think I'll like being married..

What is creatively relevant in this is the making of my wedding dress. Since I don't sketch (hate sketching!) I have the design in my head..and sometimes the overall picture in my head has issues with the details. But this time I actually have them mostly figured out! Just had to find some inspirational pictures to get some further ideas.

I have decided on a white and champagne colored 2 piece bustle dress with lace up back and wine red details. Symbolizing passion and non-virginity I suppose, but mostly it just looks awesome. Since I'm going for a bohemian style it kind of fits in that I bought most of the fabric at the fleemarket.

This time I'm not actually dressing up so there will be no "theme" or anything, I'm just taking the best bits of things I like and try to see what looks good together. Since my everyday style tends to go towards mid Victorian to the turn of the century there's probably going to be a lot of that, but I might sneak in some rococo..maybe some art nouveau.. even deco and the 1960's may be included..and fairytales too!
At least I need a veil, I just learned, so I will be protected against demons on my wedding day.Good to know.

Here's some other things I came across in my wedding reasearch:
(because with every good thing comes evil!)

1. "the one who sews her own wedding dress will cry as many tears as she sews stitches."
2. Thigh shoes means the marriage will be tight (is it just me or is that kinda vague?)
3."something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence in her shoe"
4. One needs bridesmaids to fight off other men and evil spirits! without maids the veil apparently didn't do much..?
5. "married in Red, you will wish yourself dead." Green, symbolizing promiscuity, might not be the most popular choice either.

But really..I think I'm just gonna risk it! and I do mean all of it..because:

"Love that is not madness is not love"
