Angels in the house before constantly smiling?

At about 5am last night, when I went up to turn of the TV, I thought for a minute that I saw a ghost...imagine my disappointment  when I realized it was just my weddingdress on an open closet door. Crap! How cool wouldn't that have been if I'd been right.

Since I venture into the details of the past in my dressmaking quite a lot I've sometimes thought about how different life could have been..and what I'd prefer..you know..if sometime in the future I'd move into a house with a built in timemachine or something (which would be awesome btw!) . I've written sometime in my bloggings about being a housewife. So this is my conclusion on that:
If I would have to be a housewife, I'd choose 19th century before 1950's any day!

Seriously, the only thing I do like about the 50's housewife-style is the sarcastically colorful pictures. I'd rather be "the mistress of the household" than the all around salve. Now I'm comparing the middle-class housewife standard, and I must say..even if life seems pretty much mindnumbingly boring in both cases, the Victorians still win!

As a Victorian wife I have very little rights and have to stay "pure" whilst my husband can visit as many prostitutes as he wants. I'd be relatively uneducated and forced to obey my husband. But on the other hand, I'd have servants for cleaning and cooking, possibly even for babysitters! So I can spend all my time looking lovely! and play the piano, and have tea with people. Then there's some playing with my spawn, controlling the staff, making the house cozy and try to avoid sex with my husband. With my left over time I'll join a feminist protest group and do some bicycling, Yeey!

As a 1950's housewife I would have given up my rights so I'll avoid all those nasty wrinkles one gets from worrying! Best to stop thinking all together so I'll have time for all that housework!
My husband doesn't need to know whats going on at home so I'll fix it all! I would spend all my time with my children and cleaning and cooking and ALSO looking oh so fresh. Suffering in silence or highly medicated with no time to my self I'd host dinnerparties and be intriguing in the bedroom.

What "took the biscuit" for me tough is the constant smiling. I've never seen such a happy slave before.

But to bring some sort of distance to this I must say that i probably would have chosen a very different life than that of the housewife..like the life of a bohemian muse..a life like this:

Still Victorian! but a lot more suited to my unconventional views on life..and not so far from my actual life. Suck on that world!

Seamstress diaies

..kind of like "vampire diaries" only less teeth..and no teen-obsessions.

Anyway, I am really proud to admit that I'm mid-project on the largest and most exiting job as a freelancing seamstress and designer: a weddingdress! Yes it's true, I just made one, but I'm keeping mine and other people needs dresses to get married too. So I'm setting my inspiration towards fantasy and fairytale..and bigass petticoats!

To be continued....

Other than that I'm just sewing recreationally. I'm decided to actually finish the outfit parts into an actual outfit. They have just been lying around for about 2 years, a skirt and 2 sleeves that I got from the theater, and finally I have the fabric (thank you Amanda!), the mood and the space ( I can't say time because that's not true). It's an 1890's 2-piece day dress..so far it's mint-green, but hopefully I'll get it dyed dark green.
This is the style I'm going for:

Hopefully these will both turn out good enough to put in my future portfolio.

the Good Wife and Cupid

Romantically eloping to London I married my Bambi on the 5th of February! I'm actually not going to ruin the experience by blogging about it too much..but I will show of the wedding picture!

In a windy but warm London
I will also tell that my something old was my veil..new was the dress..borrowed and blue was my sisters shoes..and I had 6 pence in my shoe!

But the creative part of it is the outfits. First, this is my weddingdress (suitcase-wrinkles included) ..a bit 1870's inspired and a bit not so much.
Lots of lace and teeny tiny roses...champagne and whine red..my dream wedding dress come true.

And now I can say: the only difference is having the experience and the feeling of accomplishment. The rest is rest is expectations of others an shouldn't be paid any attention. Because the key to a happy life is to know who to listen to and when to cut your losses. Not that there's really that much of a difference between those two.  But the experience is definitely worth having and there is no such thing as too young (ok there is, but you know what I mean!)  ..at the end I'd still rather be divorced than never married.

I also made a part of my husbands outfit..wine red..clearly. Since it was kind of a hasty wedding I still have one thing left to do..but I bet no one could tell what that is..hahaa!

Even if the wedding was secret and abroad I've actually got some favorite weddingpresents!
Thadaa:
Wedding Champagne, humorous guide books for married life (real 50's tips for wives...scary shit..! and the modern equivalent for husbands), and the most awesome bracelet! the last one is from Hampton Court Palace..symbolizing all the wives of Henry the eight.
"Divorced. beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived"

Eloping, definitely recommended!

No butts in my forcefield, please!

..and I mean it, I've been known through out the lands for not being a teamplayer! True story.

My inspiration for today the film Coco avant Chanel. It's speaks to me.   I'm actually not gonna say any more on that because like I decided yesterday, if there's someone who doesn't get it there's really nothing I can do..except let it go and continue being awesome...er than the people who didn't get it!

Right now I so wish I had a sewing mannequin..

But other than that I'm just spending lots and lots of time with my sewing machine...and here is my non-sense-making picture collage:
